Submersible axial-flow pumps for dredges
Hydrotechnical Construction, 19951. For the first time in Russia a submersible axial-flow dredge pump was developed and tested for installation as a first-stage pump on dredges to reduce the negative pressure before the hold dredge pump and to increase its positive suction head. 2.

Modeling of Recirculation in Axial Flow Pumps
1992The object of this paper is to qualitatively point out the critical flow rate corresponding to recirculation in the axial pumps. This situation is reached when the global flow rate of the machine decreases from the nominal value Qm to a first critical value Qk corresponding to the cancellation of the flow rate at the hub.

Axial Type Self‐Bearing Motor for Axial Flow Blood Pump
Artificial Organs, 2003Abstract: An axial self‐bearing motor is proposed which can drive an axial blood pump without physical contact. It is a functional combination of the bi‐directional disc motor and the axial active magnetic bearing, where it actively controls single degree‐of‐freedom motion, while other motions such as lateral vibration are passively stable.

Flow visualization and the three-dimensional flow in an axial-flow pump
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1996Surface flow visualization on an axial-flow pump results in patterns of the skin-friction lines on various surfaces and these patterns provide important insight into the topology of the three-dimensional flowfield. In particular, critical points and lines within the patterns give characteristics of three-dimensi onal separation and the formation of ...

NPSHr Optimization of Axial-Flow Pumps
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2008The two-step method for optimizing net positive suction head required (NPSHr) of axial-flow pumps is proposed in this paper. First, the NPSHr at the impeller tip is optimized with impeller diameter based on experimental data of 2D cascades in available wind tunnels.

An Experimental Investigation of the Flow Through an Axial-Flow Pump
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1995The high Reynolds number pump (HIREP) facility at ARL Penn State has been used to perform a low-speed, large-scale experiment of the incompressible flow of water through a two-blade-row turbomachine. The objectives of this experiment were to provide a database for comparison with three-dimensional, turbulent flow computations, to evaluate engineering ...

On a new axial flow molecular pump
Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1965The theory of highly rarefied cascade flow has been presented and a proposal for a new axial flow (or radial flow) molecular pump (or compressor) in the free-molecule range has been made. An unconventional cascade has been suggested which will produce an extremely high compression ratio (up to 30 000) in a single stage at very high blade speed (S = Vc/(

Development of an Intracardiac Axial Flow Pump
2000The intracardiac axial flow pump implanted at the heart valve position, with preservation of the diseased heart muscle, has several advantages over artificial heart replacement: good anatomical fitting to the natural heart, less blood contacting surface, and easy implantation technique.

Controller for an axial-flow blood pump.
Biomedical instrumentation & technology, 1997An axial-flow ventricular assist device (VAD) under development at the authors' facility is intended for use as a long-term implantable device. At high speeds axial-flow VADs can collapse the native ventricle and damage the heart muscle, lung tissue, and blood.
