A method for calculating the effects of design errors and measurement errors on pump performance [PDF]
Technique has been developed for calculating effects of design errors and measurement errors on pump performance. Error equations and charts are utilized to relate amount of error in given performance parameter to amount of error in given design or ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Influence of Axial Clearance on Water-Jet Axial Flow Pump [PDF]
Three dimensional Reynolds averaged N-S equation and S-A turbulent model were adopted to simulate the flow field and hydraulic performance of the waterjet axial flow pump with the different impeller axial clearance. The numerical research results show that with the increase of axial clearance size, total pressure and static pressure rise at first and ...

Rotordynamic Forces from Discharge-to-Suction Leakage Flows in Centrifugal Pumps: Effects of Geometry [PDF]
The rotordynamic forces generated by the fluid flow through the impeller leakage path of a centrifugal pump are now well established. The present paper examines the effects of modifying the leakage path geometry by changing the front shroud, from a ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Pressure probe compensates for dimensional tolerance variations [PDF]
Flexible, compressible spring-loaded pressure probe measures the static pressure between the rotor stages on an axial-flow fuel pump. This probe is used in installation where a drilled static pressure tap or a rigid impulse tube cannot be used.

Fluid-induced Rotordynamic Forces and Instabilities [PDF]
In the late 1970s, the authors began a collaboration with our colleague Tom Caughey that helped define a new set of fluid-structure interaction phenomena in turbomachines, namely fluid-induced rotordynamic forces and instabilities. That collaboration and

Asymmetric layout gate station projects are prevalent in gate station engineering. When multiple pump units operate within such projects, the inflow patterns of the pump devices at different stations exhibit significant variations.
