Corneal thickness and axial length
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2005A thin central cornea has been reported to be a risk factor for developing primary open-angle glaucoma among ocular hypertensive eyes. A thin scleral bed of lamina cribrosa seen in deeply excavated optic nerves in glaucomatous eyes is a quintessential finding in advanced glaucomatous eyes. Association between thin cornea and weak sclera contributing to

AXIAL LENGTH FOLLOWING SCLERAL BUCKLING
Retina, 1982AbstractThe change in the axial length of the eye following 360° scleral buckling using 1/2 thickness, 7.5 mm silicone implanted in a bed of scleral dissection was measured in ten patients and ten autopsy eyes.

Axial length in applanation tonometry
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2002To investigate the clinical applicability of a physical principle that suggests that a large globe offers less resistance to applanation than a smaller one.Referral practice, Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.The correlation between axial length and applanation tonometry in 513 adult eyes, arbitrarily chosen from a referral practice, was examined using ...

A comparison of two methods to calculate axial length.
Journal of cataract and refractive surgery, 2019PURPOSE To compare prediction accuracy with the axial length (AL) calculation method of the Lenstar biometer (traditional AL) and that of the ARGOS biometer (sum-of-segments AL). SETTING Private practice clinic. DESIGN Comparative case series. MAIN

To compare axial length measurements taken on the handheld Micro Medical Devices (MMD) PalmScan with those taken with the Carl Zeiss Meditec IOLMaster.Sixty subjects had IOLMaster performed by a single operator to measure axial length in both eyes. Subjects then had axial length measurements taken by a different single operator with the MMD device ...

Influence of Axial Length on Conjunctivochalasis
Cornea, 2013To investigate the relation between the severity of conjunctivochalasis and the axial length (AL) of the eyeball.A prospective nonrandomized study was performed on 165 patients aged 51 to 88 years. The age, gender, medical history, ocular history, grade and other parameters of inferior conjunctivochalasis (classified as nasal, middle, and temporal ...

Axial Length and the Hischberg Test
Optometry and Vision Science, 1978Axial lengths of 30 eyes (15 subjects), measured by ultrasonography, ranged from 20.6--26.3 mm. Using a fixed light source, each eye was photographed as monocular fixation was changed over an 8-deg range in 2-deg steps. Hirschberg ratios obtained from the photographs show a low correlation with axial length (0.07), and the mean value, 24 prism diopters

Axial Length and Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy
Optometry and Vision Science, 2012To determine the correlation between axial length and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with diabetes mellitus for 10 years or more. This study was a prospective, observational, cross-sectional study. Patients with diabetes for 10 years or more were included. We excluded eyes with any other significant ocular disease or any prior intraocular surgery,
