Reactive sputter etching in axial magnetic fields
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1990Magnetic fields are often applied to radio-frequency discharges in order to obtain high rate operation at low target voltages and low discharge pressures. It is known that discharge ionization is improved due to retention of electrons by magnetic fields.

THE TOWNSEND DISCHARGE IN A COAXIAL DIODE WITH AXIAL MAGNETIC FIELD
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1958An approximate theory is developed of the breakdown characteristics of a coaxial diode in an axial magnetic field, taking into account the effects of elastic collisions. It is assumed that the electron moves in a constant electric field between collisions and thus the theory is valid only in the appropriate range of magnetic field and voltage ...

Normal glow discharge in axial magnetic field
Plasma Sources Science and Technology, 2014Theory and results of mathematical modeling of a glow discharge in a parallel-plate configuration with axial magnetic field is presented. The model consists of continuity equations for electron and ion fluids, the Poisson equation for the self-consistent electric field.

On the Theory of Axially Symmetric Electron Beams in an Axial Magnetic Field
Proceedings of the IRE, 1949One of the more perplexing problems in the design of klystrons and traveling-wave tubes has been the formation of well collimated electron beams. An axially symmetric form of an electron beam is proposed in which the space-charge repulsive forces are just balanced by magnetic focusing forces so that the beam may be made as long as desirable without any

Stability of the Poiseuille Plasma Arc in an Axial Magnetic Field
The Physics of Fluids, 1966The instability of the positive column of an atmospheric argon Poiseuille plasma arc in an axial magnetic field of the order of 100 G was studied both experimentally and theoretically. The instability was manifest as a helical oscillation of the conducting core.

An Axial-Field Flux-Modulated Magnetic Gear
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016This paper proposes an axial-field flux-modulated magnetic gear (AF-FMMG), in which the rotations with different speeds of the inner rotor and the outer rotor can be achieved based on the modulation function of two stationary modulation rings. Due to the axial-flux configuration, the proposed AF-FMMG offers the advantages of a simpler mechanical ...

Field Analysis And Optimization Of NdFeB Axial Field Permanent-Magnet Motors
1997 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG'97), 1997A formula is presented for optimizing the magnetic field in NdFeB axial field permanent magnet motors. This formula which is based on a three-dimensional analytical analysis is readily programmed and ideal for parametric analysis. It is demonstrated via application to a practical motor geometry.

The Average Axial Magnetic Field of a Loop Antenna
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1975It is shown that the average magnetic-field intensity normal to a circular area coaxial with a thin current-carrying circular loop is proportional to the average current around the loop. Thus the constant-current assumption often associated with the calibration of loop antennas is unnecessary.

Round Laminar Jet in an Axial Magnetic Field
The Physics of Fluids, 1965The flow of an axisymmetric jet of a conducting liquid in a uniform axial magnetic field is studied. The magnetic Reynolds number is low, and the viscous Reynolds number, R, is high. The first terms of an asymptotic expansion of the solution are obtained.
