The effect of aspect ratio and axial magnetic field on thermocapillary convection in liquid bridges with a deformable free-surface

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2016
Three-dimensional numerical simulations are performed to analyze the effect of the aspect ratio Ar and axial magnetic field on thermocapillary convection in liquid bridges with deformable free-surface under microgravity, in which the volume of fluid (VOF)

Kilo-Tesla axial magnetic field generation with high intensity spin and orbital angular momentum beams

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
Absorption of angular momentum from a high intensity laser pulse can lead to the generation of strong axial magnetic fields in plasma. The effect, known as the inverse Faraday effect, can generate kilo-Tesla strength, multipicosecond, axial magnetic ...

Anomalies and the chiral magnetic effect in the Sakai-Sugimoto model

open access: yes, 2009
In the chiral magnetic effect an imbalance in the number of left- and right-handed quarks gives rise to an electromagnetic current parallel to the magnetic field produced in noncentral heavy-ion collisions.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
