Axial Magnetic Gear Flux Density Harmonic Spectrum Analysis

2021 17th Conference on Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Systems (ELMA), 2021
The harmonic spectrum of the flux density of the magnetic field is vital for the efficiency and for the torque interaction of the axial magnetic gears. In the present study is performed a numerical field modelling of an axial magnetic gear in order to estimate the harmonic spectrum of its axial flux density.

A Flux Focusing Axial Magnetic Gear

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2013
This paper investigates a novel axial magnetic gear using ferrite magnets. In order to increase the air-gap flux density the ferrite magnets are arranged in flux focusing configuration. The simulation results presented in this paper indicate that a relatively high torque density can be achieved when using only ferrite magnets.

An Axial Magnetic Gear Design with Changeable Ratios

2018 8th IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering (ICCSCE), 2018
Recent developments in the field of magnetic gear and magnetic gearing machines have opened up innumerable opportunities for engineers and researchers. Conventional mechanical gears require direct mechanical contact between the drive and driven toothed wheels, which gives rise to problems such as wear, breakages and noise.

A low torque ripple flux focusing axial magnetic gear

7th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2014), 2014
In this paper the torque density characteristics for an axial magnetic gear using a flux focusing topology is studied when using (NdFeB) rare-earth magnets. The torque density is improved by conducting a basic geometric sweep analysis of the most important variable parameters.

A HTS Stator-Excited Axial-Flux Magnetic Gear With Static Seal

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2021
This paper proposes a novel high-temperature superconducting stator-excited axial-flux magnetic gear (HTS-SEAFMG) for the high-torque transmitting system. The proposed magnetic gear combines the merits of both HTS-excitation and stator-excitation. By using the HTS-excitation, a high air-gap flux density can be easily obtained, thus achieving the high ...

An Axial Cycloidal Magnetic Gear That Minimizes the Unbalanced Radial Force

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2020
This article investigates a new type of axial cycloidal magnetic gear (CMG) that can minimize the unbalanced radial force within the CMG structure. The unbalanced radial force is decomposed into an eccentric coupling force and an eccentric quadrature force.
