Experimental evaluation of primary water chemistry for prevention of axial offset anomaly

Thermochimica Acta, 2012
Abstract A test loop was designed to simulate the operating conditions affecting the axial offset anomaly on the fuel cladding in nuclear power plants. In this study, accelerated simulation tests for deposit formation on the Zirlo cladding surface were performed in a solution containing varying amounts of Li and B with different concentrations of Ni ...

Reducing axial offset and improving stability in PWRs by using uranium–thorium fuel

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2014
The axial offset (AO) is a parameter used to monitor the core axial power distribution, and is important for safe reactor operation. Previous works have showed that a new type uranium-thorium (U-Th) based fuel assembly could be used to achieve a more homogenous radial power distribution, and thereby improve the thermal margins in the core.

Workspace analysis of axial offset joint based on parameterization

Robotica, 2023
AbstractThe axial offset joint has two rotating axes that do not intersect but have a specific offset in space. It is used widely in parallel manipulators (PMs). The offset-joint workspace can directly affect the PM workspace. This study performed a theoretical derivation and workspace analysis of a class of axial offset joints.

Axial offset control of PWR nuclear reactor core using intelligent techniques

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2004
Improved load following capability is one of the main technical performances of advanced PWR (APWR). Controlling the nuclear reactor core during load following operation encounters some difficulties. These difficulties mainly arise from nuclear reactor core limitations in local power peaking, while the core is subject to large and sharp variation of ...
