Axial Ring Feed Horn with Logarithmic Flare for Offset Gregorian Optics
2021 XXXIVth General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2021We present an improved axial ring feed horn using a logarithmic spiral flare opening and tapered groove geometry that is suitable for wide-angle feeding, as required for offset Gregorian telescopes. To enable a design with maximum aperture efficiency, full 2-D field integration was calculated as part of the optimization loop.

A subsonic axial rotor with axial skewed slot casing treatment (ASSCT) was investigated with experimental and numerical methods to explore the effects of the center offset degree (Cod) on the rotor stability and performance. Cod is defined as the ratio of the central difference between the rotor tip section and ASSCT to the rotor tip axial chord length.

Axial Offset Anomaly Modeling Studies on EDF Cores
Volume 2: Fuel Cycle and High Level Waste Management; Computational Fluid Dynamics, Neutronics Methods and Coupled Codes; Student Paper Competition, 2008The Axial Offset Anomaly phenomenon, commonly called AOA, is one of the possible consequences of the undesirable presence of deposits on the nuclear fuel. AOA appears in PWR cores as abnormal distribution of the power, as compared to the design reference values.

Axial offset anomaly: coupling PWR primary chemistry with core design
Nuclear Energy, 2001Axial offset anomaly (AOA) in pressurised water reactors (PWRs) is a larger than expected negative flux depression beginning approximately at 5000 MWd/MtU feed fuel burnup. AOA can threaten the full power shutdown margin and thereby force a costly derate.
