Effect of Axial Preloading and Wheel Offset on the Performances of Automotive Wheel Bearings

ASME/STLE 2007 International Joint Tribology Conference, Parts A and B, 2007
With considering the contact angle variations, the nonlinear systems of equations are utilized to obtain load distributions of automotive wheel bearings with axial preloading under radial and lateral tire loads and analyze the effects of axial preloading and wheel offset on the performances of the bearings.

Evaluation of axial DC offsets during scanning of a quadrupole ion trap for sensitivity improvements

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2001
Abstract In the normal operation of quadrupole ion trap mass spectrometers, approximately half of the trapped ions are ejected through the source endcap during a mass‐selective instability scan. This reduces the sensitivity of the instrument by ∼50%.

A Numerical FEM Solution of Gear Root Stress in Offset Axial Mesh Misalignment

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Gear offsets mesh in axial misalignment always leads to unevenness of load transferred contributing the impact of stress value and distribution along important critical path of the tooth root. Its happening due to overpress fitting when the gear is mounted onto the shaft as an interference hub fit.

Double-Pitch Dual Grating Method for Detecting the Axial Offset in Roll System

Journal of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering, 2013
We propose a dual grating alignment technique for roll-to-roll positioning which allows achieving nanometer scale alignment by using micro-size marks. The high precision alignment system were designed and manufactured. It was confirmed that the optical system was properly adjusted and fully aligned with the dual gratings.

Structure formation in areas of nontransform offsets of axial spreading zones (analog modeling)

Moscow University Geology Bulletin, 2010
The results of experimental modeling and features of structure formation in the zones of nontrans-form offsets (NTOs) of spreading axes are presented. The experiments were performed on materials that are colloidal systems based on liquid and solid hydrocarbons, taking into account the similarity of conditions.

Influence of Axial Offset on the Nonlinear Behaviour of Passive Magnetic Bearings

This paper analyses the nonlinear behaviour of Passive Magnetic Bearings (PMBs), overcoming the conventional assumption of constant stiffness commonly adopted in their modelling. In case of rotors equipped with PMBs, the magnetostatic interaction between permanent magnets results in nonlinear radial stiffness with a strong impact on the system dynamics,

Laser flatting chemical vapor deposition diamond films by axial offset-focus

High Power Laser and Particle Beams, 2013
Inhomogeneous chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond thick films are flatted by a Nd:YAG laser cutting machine with axial offset-focus. The influences of laser voltage, laser frequency and focus position on the diameter and depth of scanning spot are researched respectively.
