Research on wear prediction of piston/cylinder pair in axial piston pumps [PDF]

open access: yesWear, 2020
The piston/cylinder pair is the critical lubricating interface of axial piston pumps. It suffers from excessive wear, especially under high output pressure. The performance degradation of the piston/cylinder pair is significant to be clarified.

Damping on the swash plate of an axial-piston pump

Proceedings of the 2000 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.00CH36334), 2000
An, open loop, reduced order model is proposed for the swash plate dynamics of an axial piston pump. The difference from previous reduced order models is the modeling of a damping mechanism not reported previously in the literature. An analytical expression for the damping mechanism is derived. The proposed reduced order model is validated by comparing

Experimental Simulation of Piston Leakage in an Axial Piston Pump

Fluid Power Systems and Technology, 2005
A method used to introduce “artificial leakage” into an axial piston pump to simulate leakage from a worn piston is described in this paper. A pressure control servo valve with a very high frequency response was employed to divert flow from the pump outlet in a prescribed waveform directly to tank.

The kinematic analysis of axial-piston pumps

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1983
Abstract This investigation describes the kinematics of axial hydraulic pumps with spherical ended pistons. The results, however, apply to the basic kinematics of all axial piston pumps. The current hypothesis is that sliding at the piston/swash plate interface contributes to the wear of these parts.
