The karyotypes were prepared from skin biopsies of animals at the San Diego Zoo, USA (male) and National Zoo, Washington, D.C., USA, (female), respectively. The male karyotype represents the C-banding pattern. Heterochromatin is found at all centromeres and in the faint satellites at the ends of the long arms of the first two pairs of autosomes.
