The Curve Axis

Computer Vision and Image Understanding, 1996
Summary: We examine various aspects of the medial axis representation of shapes, resulting in a novel, highly accurate skeletonization algorithm suitable for shapes with parametrically described boundaries such as, for example, polygons or ``spline''-gons.

Axis Fractures

Neurosurgery, 2010
Traumatic fractures of the second cervical vertebra are common, representing nearly 20% of all acute cervical spinal fracture-dislocation injuries. They are divided into 3 distinct injury patterns: odontoid fractures, hangman's fracture injuries, and fractures of the axis body, involving all other fracture injuries to the C2 vertebra. An evidence-based ...

Axis axis (Axis deer; chital)

1974
The karyotypes were prepared from skin biopsies of animals at the San Diego Zoo, USA (male) and National Zoo, Washington, D.C., USA, (female), respectively. The male karyotype represents the C-banding pattern. Heterochromatin is found at all centromeres and in the faint satellites at the ends of the long arms of the first two pairs of autosomes.

Xylazine-induced sedation in axis deer (Axis axis) and its reversal by atipamezole

Veterinary Research Communications, 1993
Eight free-ranging axis deer (Axis axis) were captured in drive nets and injected with xylazine (3.4 +/- 0.1 mg/kg; mean +/- SEM) intramuscularly using a hand-held syringe. Xylazine induced complete immobilization and sedation in three animals, heavy sedation in three, and moderate sedation in two. The mean induction time was 10.4 +/- 1.0 min. The mean
