Effect of symmetry-breaking on the MHD edge stability limit of tokamak plasmas
We demonstrate for the first time that symmetry-breaking in tokamak plasmas reduces the window of stable edge operational space, leading to a lower achievable edge pressure gradient.

Numerical study of eddy current by Finite Element Method for cracks detection in structures
In this paper, we try to use the finite element method of 2-D axisymmetry to solve problems in eddy current testing problems where the main idea is detecting crack's shape using the NDT-EC.

First analysis of an OH survey of inner Galaxy: evidence for a stellar Bar
Part of a large survey of the inner galactic Plane ( $ | \ell | < 45^{\circ} $ and $ | b | < 3^{\circ} $ total) in the OH 1612MHz line in search for OH/IR stars is analysed.

The Matter Plus Black Hole Problem in Axisymmetry
We present preliminary results in our long-term project of studying the evolution of matter in a dynamical spacetime. To achieve this, we have developed a new code to evolve axisymmetric initial data sets corresponding to a black hole surrounded by matter fields. The code is based on the coupling of two previously existing codes.

Roles of non-axisymmetric perturbations in free drift vertical displacement events on EAST
The safe operation of most tokamaks, especially the large ones, relies on the feedback control of vertical displacement events (VDEs). However, most of these feedback control systems are based on axisymmetric VDE models.

CFQS is the world’s first modular-coil-type quasi-axisymmetric stellarator, which is currently under construction. This study systematically investigates the effect of finite beta (volume-averaged beta, 〈 β 〉) on the neoclassical transport ...

Schlieren visualisation and measurement of axisymmetric disturbances [PDF]
Synthetic schlieren is a new technique that allows one easily and inexpensively to visualise density variations, such as those caused by internal waves propagating in a density stratified fluid.

Partial persistence of memory in bubble breakup: Incomplete universality acquired by broken symmetry
When a water drop falls from a faucet, the drop is created with the formation of an axisymmetric constriction region, which thins down to breakup. Such formation of a fluid drop has been extensively studied as a representative of the singular dynamics ...
