Fracture micro-mechanisms in hot-rolled AZ31 and AZ31-Sr magnesium alloys

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2021
Abstract Micro specimens of hot-rolled AZ31 and AZ31 + 0.8 wt% Sr magnesium alloys were tensioned in the rolling direction, and fracture micro-mechanisms were studied by in-situ real-time optical observations, electron microscopy, and DIC analysis. In-situ observations indicated that strain localization on the microstructural shear bands developed ...

Recrystallization of AZ31 Alloy

Materials Science Forum, 2014
Magnesium alloys are extensively used in electronics, automotive and aerospace industries due to their low densities and high specific strengths. However, limited deformability of magnesium alloys at room temperature restricts the applications.

Constitutive Models for AZ31 Magnesium Alloys

Key Engineering Materials, 2008
The present investigation aims at studying and modelling the flow behaviour of the AZ31 magnesium alloy by means of torsion tests performed in extended ranges of temperature and strain rates. Two types of rheological models were considered. The former is based on the power law equation, whilst the latter is based on the Sellars and Tegart approach. The

Extrusion of AZ31 Magnesium Sheet

Materials Science Forum, 2010
Due to the increasing demand of deep drawing applications for magnesium alloys in the future magnesium sheets with good mechanical and forming properties are required. These properties depend on the processing route of the sheet material. The deformation behavior of magnesium alloys is strongly influenced by the texture.

XRD studies of electrochemically hydrided–dehydrided thin films of the alloy AZ31 and AZ31 with Ti

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009
Abstract A magnetron sputtered thin films of the AZ31 alloy and AZ31 alloy with Ti capped with Pd were electrochemically hydrogenated and dehydrogenated in a 3 M KOH solution. A phase composition and structure of the films were studied by XRD. It has been determined that the behaviour of magnetron sputtered alloy AZ31 during electrochemical charging ...

The Recrystallization Behavior of AZ31 and WE43

Materials Science Forum, 2005
The deformation and recrystallization behavior of two magnesium alloys, AZ31 and WE43, have been investigated. The cast alloys were heat treated to produce various distributions of second phase particles and deformed in a channel die at a strain rate of 10-4 s-1 at temperatures between 523 and 673 K.

Vacuum hot pressed AZ31/UCF/AZ31 composite sheets: Microstructure and mechanical properties

Vacuum, 2017
Abstract AZ31 Mg alloy/unidirectional carbon fiber (UCF)/AZ31 composite sheets were fabricated with AZ91 Mg alloy powder as an adhesive using vacuum hot pressing (VHP) at various temperatures. Both the wettability and bonding strength of the UCF/AZ91 interfaces increased with increasing VHP temperature, resulting in an improvement of the mechanical ...

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ31/SiC and AZ31/CNT Composites Produced by Friction Stir Processing

Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2015
Magnesium is a light structural metal that is increasingly used in the aerospace and automobile industries. Its mechanical strength can be enhanced by adding reinforcing particles to the material. Friction stir processing, a solid state process has been used to insert reinforcing particles into the structure of a material to create a composite with ...
