Well-calibrated time-domain azimuthal anisotropy correction
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2014, 2014Horizontal stress-induced azimuthal anisotropy (AA) commonly exists in the North West Shelf off Australia. To obtain accurate seismic imaging and improve amplitude fidelity, azimuthal anisotropy imaging is needed. The authors present a new well-calibrated time domain AA correction technique that derives the AA depth model from misties between the well ...

Direct photon spectra and azimuthal anisotropy
Nuclear and Particle Physics Proceedings, 2016The transverse momentum distribution and azimuthal anisotropy of direct photon production in Au+Au collisions at sNN=200 GeV were measured in the PHENIX experiment at RHIC. Through the external conversion method, earlier yield and v2 measurements were extended down to pT = 0.4 GeV/c.

Statistical moments for azimuthal anisotropy characterization
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2014, 2014The benefits of separating azimuthal AVO into AVO (Amplitude Versus Offset) and AVAz (Amplitude Versus Azimuth) have been demonstrated using Fourier Coefficients. The main advantage is to avoid coupling between the isotropic and anisotropic properties estimates.

Azimuthal Anisotropy Resolved By Tilted Orthorhombic Tomography
Proceedings, 2018This paper explains a qualitative and quantitative approach to identify and resolve P wave TTI and HTI variations in the depth migration velocity model building process. The combination of these effects can be represented by an orthorhombic model with three mutually orthogonal planes of mirror symmetry; the P-waves in each symmetry plane can be ...

Image-guided WEMVA for azimuthal anisotropy
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2013, 2013Azimuthal anisotropy is common in layered basins with strong folding and fracturing effects. Traditional processing on individual azimuths usually yields images with inconsistent depths. In this paper, we propose to use an image obtained from one azimuth to constrain the image-space velocity analysis on other azimuths.

A robust workflow for detecting azimuthal anisotropy
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2011, 2011Summary The prestack analysis of amplitude variation with offset/angle (AVO/AVA) has been a useful hydrocarbon exploration tool for a number of years. As this technology matured, forward modeling became an important tool to understand the seismic response, to ensure acquisition parameters were adequate for its detection, and to calibrate and validate ...

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2009, 2009
Summary Four azimuth-sectored 3D P-P volumes were pre-stack time migrated (PSTM) using the same velocity field. These high-fold data (4,000-5,000 traces were summed in each bin in each azimuth sector) of high S/N enable azimuthal analysis of amplitude, phase, frequency, and other seismic attributes.

Observations of Azimuthal Anisotropy in Seismic Gathers
69th EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2007, 2007D029 Observations of Azimuthal Anisotropy in Seismic Gathers D. Gray* (CGG Veritas) SUMMARY A method for displaying prestack seismic data that highlights azimuthal anisotropy is shown. Using this method to make observations of azimuthal anisotropy in prestack seismic data makes it clear that azimuthal anisotropy is observed in all types of seismic data

Azimuthal Anisotropy in ASCAT Backscatter Measurements
