AZULENE/ALDEHYDE ASSOCIATION: AN ANALOG FOR DAMAGED DNA DETECTION

open access: yes, 2023
Loss of a nucleic acid base from DNA can leave behind a reactive aldehyde group on ribose. To detect the presence of such “abasic sites,” ethyl-2-aminoazulene-1-carboxylate, a novel azulene-based analog of guanine/adenine, was synthesized.

Curing of mice skin infections using ethanol flower extract of chamomile

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2011
This experiment was conducted in order to estimate azulene and apigenin in chamomile flowers. Ethanol extracts were examined singly or in combination with some drugs in their biological activity against some pathogens causing skin infection.

Azulene-Containing Squaraines for Photoacoustic Imaging and Photothermal Therapy

open access: yes
Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) guided photothermal therapy (PTT) can realize real-time diagnosis and in situ treatment of cancer at the same time. Absorption in the near-infrared (NIR) region with large molar extinction coefficient (ε) and high value of ...

Synthesis and properties of fluorescent 4′-azulenyl-functionalized 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridines

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
4′-Azulenyl-substituted terpyridines were efficiently synthesized following the Kröhnke methodology via azulenylchalcone intermediates. These azulenyl-containing terpyridines showed fluorescent emission with a fluorescence quantum yield varying from 0.14,

Aromaticity switching via azulene transformations in azulene-bridged A,D-dithiahexaphyrin

open access: yes, 2018
Two-electron reduction of azulene-bridged hexaphyrin affords an antiaromatic macrocycle. Alternatively, the intramolecular coordination-induced transformation of azulene yielded 18π-electron carbaporphyrins.

Theoretical studies of azulene and its derivatives

open access: yes, 2000
The results of ab initio calculations with the 6-31G basis sets on azulene and its derivatives (including azulenequinones and diazoazulenequinones) are presented in accordance with considerations of their structures and bonding.

Synthesis and Characterization of π‐Extended Azulenes via Nucleophilic Substitution and Intramolecular Cyclization of 5‐Alkynyl‐6‐Fluoroazulenes

open access: yesChemistryEurope
Herein, a methodology that allows a nucleophilic aromatic substitution followed by an intramolecular cyclization to furnish annulated heterocycles at the seven‐membered ring of alkynyl fluoroazulenes is introduced.

Synthesis and Properties of Twisted and Helical Azulene Oligomers and Azulene‐Based Polycyclic Hydrocarbons

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2023
The construction of 1,2‐position‐connected azulene oligomers was achieved. In the crystal packing structure of the terazulene, two molecules of (Ra)‐ and (Sa)‐configurations formed a pair.

A Computational Protocol to Predict Anti-Kasha Emissions: The Case of Azulene Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this contribution we present a computational protocol to predict anti-Kasha photoluminescence. The herein developed protocol is based on state-of-the-art quantum chemical calculations and excited state decay rate theories (i.e., thermal vibration ...
