Toward physically realistic vision in teleoperation: A user study with light‐field head mounted display and 6‐DoF head motion

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, Volume 31, Issue 12, Page 663-674, December 2023., 2023
The presented study with light‐field acquisition and rendering was conducted with n=28 test‐subjects performing a tele‐robotic depth matching task based on a 2.5D visualization of the robotic environment. Light‐field: The user study showed that light‐field (LF) head‐mounted displays reduce workload.

Vision‐audio fusion SLAM in dynamic environments

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1364-1373, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Moving humans, agents, and subjects bring many challenges to robot self‐localisation and environment perception. To adapt to dynamic environments, SLAM researchers typically apply several deep learning image segmentation models to eliminate these moving obstacles.

A comprehensive analysis of sit‐to‐stand movement in a living space involving principal component analysis

open access: yesJAPAN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 1, January–December 2023., 2023
Abstract Sit‐to‐stand (STS) movement is a frequently performed activity of daily living. The analysis of STS movement can lead to the early detection of a decline in physical functioning. There is thus interest in home‐based STS monitoring systems. The present study (1) extracted universal differences by age group in common STS movements of daily life ...

Monitoring Volcanic and Tectonic Sandbox Analogue Models Using the Kinect v2 Sensor

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
Abstract The measurement of surface deformation in analogue models of volcanic and tectonic processes is an area in continuous development. Properly quantifying topography change in analogue models is key for a useful comparison between experiment results and nature. The aim of this work is to evaluate the capabilities of the simple and cheap Microsoft®
