Thiophene Derivatives as Versatile Precursors for (Hetero)Arene and Natural Product Synthesis. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
Hidden but Powerful: Thiophenes and their saturated analogues have been demonstrated to be versatile C4‐building blocks that can be rapidly applied to natural product synthesis and the construction of functionalized (hetero)arenes. This minireview aims to provide a concise overview of the strategies and implementations of these sulfur‐containing ...

Habitat selection of moose in Sweden in managed boreal forests with Pinus contorta and P. sylvestris

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Human land use can take advantage of using exotic species to increase financial benefits. However, the use of exotic tree species might affect ecosystem functioning, potentially including the habitat use and movement behaviour of animals, modifying their ecological impact, and interactions with human land use.

PLACE‐FRAMING URBANITY: The Case of Kalasatama, Helsinki

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Narratives, visuality and symbolic representations are increasingly important in contemporary urban planning and development. This article seeks to understand how urbanity, one of the key goals of Helsinki's recent planning, has been constructed in the Kalasatama regeneration area. The construction of urban image and identity is viewed as soft

Development of CCMb: A Low‐Mg Calcite Reference Material for In Situ Measurement of δ18O, δ13C and Selected Trace Elements

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Low‐Mg calcite RM developed for in situ microanalysis applications in palaeoclimatology (δ18O, δ13C; Mg, Sr m/m). New data for calcite CRM IAEA‐603 (δ18O, δ13C by SIMS and GS‐IRMS; Mg m/m). No detectable IMF effect of Mg on SIMS δ18O determinations for mass fractions < 3650 μg g‐1.

Single human fingertip mechanoreceptive afferents simultaneously encode multidimensional aspects of touch

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mechanoreceptors in the fingertip skin allow us to explore objects and to feel a vast range of textures. We recorded responses from individual low‐threshold mechanoreceptive afferents in humans while dynamic stimuli were swept across their receptive fields, systematically varying force, velocity and spatial period.

Preferences for Blood Glucose Management in Adult Intensive Care Unit Patients—An International Survey

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperglycaemia is common in intensive care unit (ICU) patients and blood glucose management practices likely vary, but there are limited contemporary data on ICU doctors' and nurses' preferences. Methods We conducted an international online survey of ICU doctors and nurses. The 16‐question survey covered respondent characteristics,

Exact Solutions and Nonlinear Dynamical Behavior in a Navier‐Stokes‐Type Model for Elastic Cylindrical Vessels: An Analytical and Computational Approach

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study investigates a nonlinear Navier‐Stokes‐type model for elastic cylindrical vessels. Exact solutions are derived via the Bäcklund transformation and the ϕ6$$ {\phi}^6 $$‐expansion method, and dynamical behaviors are analyzed using bifurcation and chaos tools, revealing diverse wave structures and parameter‐dependent propagation characteristics.

Generation of a recipient line for Rubisco engineering by multiplex genome editing in tobacco

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 126, Issue 4, May 2026.
SUMMARY Rubisco (ribulose 1,5‐bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase) is the primary CO2‐fixing enzyme on our planet. Its slow kinetics and poor discrimination between carbon dioxide and oxygen as substrates severely limit the efficiency of photosynthetic carbon fixation by plants.

Hypervalent Iodine‐Mediated Synthesis of Sulfones Using Organozinc Pivalates and Sulfinate Salts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 13, 13 April 2026.
A general protocol for sulfone synthesis via sulfonyl‐containing hypervalent iodine reagents and organozinc pivalates is described. The method is practical, provides a broad scope of sulfone in moderate to high yield. bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane‐sulfones are also disclosed and a one‐pot synthesis of Diels–Alder adduct is presented. Sulfones are key motifs in

Suprathermal Soliton Solutions to Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, Volume 66, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Maxwell distributions are very difficult to find in the low‐pressure environment far away the Earth atmosphere, permeated by high temperatures, various types of radiation, highly energetic particles, space debris, and subjected to microgravity, presenting crucial challenges for spacecraft design and operations, and affecting astronaut's health.
