Risks of bromoform by adding seaweed of the genus Asparagopsis to feed for ruminants

Abstract Aim Livestock farming is a large contributor to methane emission, a strong greenhouse gas. In order to achieve climate goals methods to reduce methane emission are being explored. Some promising results are obtained by adding Asparagopsis to feed for ruminants. Asparagopsis is a red seaweed which contains high levels of bromoform.
