Comparison of outcomes after DA‐EPOCH‐R or GMALL high‐intensity therapy for front‐line treatment of Burkitt lymphoma: A retrospective cohort

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
In this retrospective cohort of adult Burkitt lymphoma, DA‐EPOCH‐R showed no signal of inferior survival or relapse risk compared with GMALL‐based high‐intensity therapy. Outcomes were driven mainly by established prognostic factors, particularly age, advanced stage and Burkitt lymphoma International Prognostic Index.

Galectin-3 in pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yes, 2013
Only 30-40% of adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) achieve long-term, disease-free survival and can be considered cured. The remainder will eventually relapse and die from disease progression or other ALL-related consequences.

Development and validation of a model for stratifying haematological malignancy risk in primary care using basic blood tests

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Haematological malignancies are rare in primary care and are hard to predict. Existing prediction models often require a specific working diagnosis and are based on extensive clinical information, access to which may be limited at initial work‐up in primary care.

Overexpression of an isoform of AML1 in acute leukemia and its potential role in leukemogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
AML1/RUNX1 is a critical transcription factor in hematopoietic cell differentiation and proliferation. From the _AML1_ gene, at least three isoforms, _AML1a_, _AML1b_ and _AML1c_, are produced through alternative splicing.

Reduced‐dose versus standard‐dose total body irradiation before allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adults with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Comparative data on reduced‐dose (8 Gy) versus standard‐dose (12 Gy) total body irradiation (TBI) before allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT) for adults with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) remain limited. We retrospectively analysed 101 adults undergoing first allo‐HSCT between 1999 and 2024 after 8 Gy or 12 Gy ...

Lenalidomide maintenance after initial immunochemotherapy in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia—Final analysis of the international phase III CLL6 RESIDUUM study of the ALLG and FILO groups

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Most patients treated for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) fail to achieve measurable residual disease (MRD) negativity. The role of maintenance with the immunomodulatory drug lenalidomide in these patients is unclear. A randomised multicentre phase III trial (ACTRN12610000060044) was conducted in Australia and France to assess the effect of

Targeting KRAS for cancer therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
In recent years, therapeutics targeted against KRAS proto‐oncogene GTPase (KRAS)‐mutant cancers have seen significant progress. Herein we outline the biology and epidemiology of KRAS alterations at the lineage and allele levels, reviewing the clinical evidence for KRASG12C inhibition from the discovery of the recessive switch pocket to sotorasib ...

Heart failure medication to prevent cancer therapy–related cardiac dysfunction: A narrative review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Advances in oncological therapies have improved cancer survival but also have increased the clinical incidence of cancer therapy–related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD), a spectrum of conditions ranging from subclinical biomarker or strain abnormalities to progressive heart failure and cardiogenic shock.
