Cubic spline population density functions and subcentre delimitation. The case of Barcelona [PDF]

open access: yes
The presence of subcentres cannot be captured by an exponential function. Cubic spline functions seem more appropriate to depict the polycentricity pattern of modern urban systems.

Interlacing property for B-splines

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2005
The well-known Markov interlacing property for pears of polynomials to the case of polynomial \(B\)-splines is generalized. It is proved that if the interior knots of two \(B\)-splines interlace, then the zeros of their derivatives of any order also interlace. Moreover, the monotonicity property for polynomial \(B\)-splines is established. According to

Interactive Surface Representation System Using a B-spline Formulation with Interpolation Capability

open access: yes, 1982
An interactive surface representation system is described which uses a parametric uniform bicubic B-spline formulation which can describe a surface initially defined to interpolate a specified network of ...

Trivariate Biharmonic B‐Splines

open access: yes, 2015
.In this paper, we formulate a novel trivariate biharmonic B‐spline defined over bounded volumetric domain. The properties of bi‐Laplacian have been well investigated, but the straightforward generalization from bivariate case to trivariate one gives ...

ON SOME GENERALIZATIONS OF B-SPLINES

open access: yes, 2019
In this article, we consider some generalizations of polynomial and exponential B-splines. Firstly, the extension from integral to complex orders is reviewed and presented. The second generalization involves the construction of uncountable families of self-referential or fractal functions from polynomial and exponential B-splines of integral and ...

Oracally Efficient Two-Step Estimation of Generalized Additive Model [PDF]

open access: yes
Generalized additive models (GAM) are multivariate nonparametric regressions for non-Gaussian responses including binary and count data. We propose a spline-backfitted kernel (SBK) estimator for the component functions.

Kesesuaian Metode Regresi Nonparametrik Spline, B-spline , dan P-spline dalam Menduga Kurva Regresi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Regression modeling with nonparametric regression method is required as an alternative method of standard methods (parametric regression method) to obtain a more accurate model when there is assumption “true model” violation.

Bayesian Analysis for Penalized Spline Regression Using WinBUGS

open access: yes
Penalized splines can be viewed as BLUPs in a mixed model framework, which allows the use of mixed model software for smoothing. Thus, software originally developed for Bayesian analysis of mixed models can be used for penalized spline regression ...
