Degree Reduction of B-Spline Curves

1998
This work deals with the problem of degree reducing a B-spline curve without intermediate conversion to Bezier form. Degree elevation for B-spline curves may easily be described in blossom form. We also use blossoms for the degree reduction problem, and set up least squares problems for finding the B-spline coefficients directly.

A B-spline curve extension algorithm

Science China Information Sciences, 2015
B-spline curve extension is an important operation in computer aided design systems. In this paper, we present a new extension algorithm for B-spline curves. The algorithm uses curve unclamping to generate a uniform B-spline curve segment from the original curve and gradually extends the segment to pass through every target point. Algorithms of uniform

AHT Bézier Curves and NUAHT B-Spline Curves

Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 2007
In this paper, we present two new unified mathematics models of conics and polynomial curves, called algebraic hyperbolic trigonometric (AHT) Bezier curves and non-uniform algebraic hyperbolic trigonometric (NUAHT) B-spline curves of order n, which are generated over the space span{sin t, cos t, sinh t, cosh t, 1, t,..., tn-5}, n ≥ 5.

Curve reconstruction based on an interval B-spline curve

The Visual Computer, 2005
Curve reconstruction that generates a piece of centric curve from a piece of planar strip-shaped point cloud is a fundamental problem in reverse engineering. In this paper, we present a new curve-reconstruction algorithm based on an interval B-spline curve.

Degree elevation of B-spline curves

Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1984
An algorithm is presented which expresses any given linear combination of B-splines of order k as a linear combination of B-splines of order \(k+1\). This algorithm consists of two parts: (1) A simple representation of the curve by a sum of B-splines of order \(k+1\), and (2) a representation of these splines on a common node vector by inserting new ...

Algorithm for degree reduction of B-spline curves

Computer-Aided Design, 1995
This paper presents -- in continuation of the authors' previous work on degree elevation [ibid. 19, No. 9, 485-498 (1987; Zbl 0655.65012)] -- an algorithm for degree reduction of a given \(B\)-spline-curve. The three main steps of the new algorithm are: Decomposition of the given \(B\)- spline into Bézier pieces; degree reduction of each Bézier piece ...
