Effects of Various Drying Methods on Physicochemical Characteristics and Textural Features of Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys Polyactis)

open access: yesFoods, 2020
The physicochemical characteristics and textural properties of yellow croaker treated by hot air drying (HAD), low temperature vacuum drying (LVD), and freeze drying (FD) methods were studied.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Porous Silica Gels Doped with Gold Nanoparticles: Preparation, Microstructure, Optical and Textural Properties

open access: yesGels
Porous silica gel powders, doped with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), were obtained by heating silica gels containing 1-dodecanethiol and tetrachloroauric acid at temperatures of 450 °C, 700 °C and 900 °C, and characterized using X-ray diffraction, TEM/EDS ...

Combining Spectral Data and a DSM from UAS-Images for Improved Classification of Non-Submerged Aquatic Vegetation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Monitoring of aquatic vegetation is an important component in the assessment of freshwater ecosystems. Remote sensing with unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) can provide sub-decimetre-resolution aerial images and is a useful tool for detailed vegetation ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Textures of Superfluid 3He-B in Applied Flow and Comparison with Hydrostatic Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Low Temperature Physics, 2011
Measurements of the order parameter texture of rotating superfluid 3He-B have been performed as a function of the applied azimuthal counterflow velocity down to temperatures of 0.2Tc. The results are compared to the hydrostatic theory of 3He-B. Good agreement is found at all measured temperatures and rotation velocities when the flow anisotropy ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Feasibility Study of Computed Tomographic Radiomics Model for the Prediction of Early and Intermediate Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using BCLC Staging

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment
Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a serious health concern because of its high morbidity and mortality. The prognosis of HCC largely depends on the disease stage at diagnosis.

Uncarbonized Bovine Bone/MOF Composite as a Hybrid Green Material for CO and CO2 Selective Adsorption

open access: yesSeparations
This work aims to adsorb CO and CO2 using a low-cost biogenic waste (bone) as a platform for the in situ growth of HKUST-1, employing two methodologies. The synthesized composite materials, BMOF2 and BMOF3, exhibited functional, textural, and structural ...
