Safety Evaluation of Repeated Application of Polymeric Microarray Patches in Miniature Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the safety of repeated application of three types of microarray patches (MAPs), hydrogelforming, dissolving, and implantable, over four weeks in miniature pigs. No adverse skin or systemic effects were observed, supporting the clinical potential of MAPs as safe and effective drug delivery platforms.

Home-based versus clinic-based care for patients starting antiretroviral therapy with low CD4⁺ cell counts: findings from a cluster-randomized trial. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
OBJECTIVES: African health services have shortages of clinical staff. We showed previously, in a cluster-randomized trial, that a home-based strategy using trained lay-workers is as effective as a clinic-based strategy. It is not known whether home-based

Human Skin Models in Biophotonics: Materials, Methods, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses how the optical properties of human skin can be replicated in human skin models. It describes the principles, materials, and techniques used to develop artificial skin for biophotonics research. Finally, the article highlights recent advances and shows how these models improve the study of light‐skin interactions without the need ...

Plaque‐Targeted Delivery of Fluoride‐Free MXene Nanozyme for Alleviating Atherosclerosis via Sonocatalytic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has developed a dual enzyme‐mimicking and ultrasound‐responsive Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG nanozyme. ROS‐eliminating and antiinflammatory capability of Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG under US irradiation are demonstrated on macrophages and endothelial cells in vitro. Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG‐mediated sonocatalytic therapy exerts an outstanding anti‐atherosclerosis efficacy by ...

Vitamins for beef cattle (1993) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Vitamin needs of beef cattle can be confined largely to A, D and E. This is because bacteria in the rumen of cattle are considered to have the ability to synthesize vitamin K and the B vitamins in sufficient quantities to meet the animal's requirement ...

Bioinspired Design of Heterogenous Single‐Atomic‐Site Catalysts for Electrocatalysis and Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review gives a summary on the representative bioinspired single‐atomic‐site catalysts (SACs) and their applications in heterogeneous electrocatalysis and photocatalysis. The fundamentals of bioinspired design strategies are systematically discussed in the context of the first shell coordination, the second/long‐range coordination, and the outer ...
