This study analyses the uncertainty and variability existing in the economic performance of polylactic acid (PLA) production, via integrating techno‐economic analysis with process models and Monte Carlo simulation enabled by artificial intelligence. The results show that the minimum selling price varies from $2,107 to $3076/t PLA.

Because of its gradually declining incidence, many UK physicians rarely encounter leprosy which is thus easily overlooked. Hansen’s discovery of mycobacterium leprae, the first identified human bacterial infection, was of crucial importance. He struggled to find acceptance, and arguments about the priority of his discovery were rife until his vital ...

This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Fatty Acids in Bacillus larvae, Bacillus lentimorbus , and Bacillus popilliae [PDF]
The types of fatty acids produced by two strains each of Bacillus larvae, B. lentimorbus , and B. popilliae , and their distribution patterns, were studied by gas-liquid chromatography. All six organisms produced eight major fatty acids: six branched (iso-C 14 , -C

Bacillus Responses to Plant-Associated Fungal and Bacterial Communities
Some members of root-associated Bacillus species have been developed as biocontrol agents due to their contribution to plant protection by directly interfering with the growth of pathogens or by stimulating systemic resistance in their host.

Gut Bacteria Improve Depressive Symptoms by Degrading Cortisol into Androgen
Chronic stress is an important risk factor for stress‐related disorders such as depression. Stress hormone cortisol is essential for the pathogenesis of stress‐related disorders such as depression. Some gut microbiota degraded cortisol, and improve depressive symptoms.

A (2R,3R)‐butanediol dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsBDH) is engineered for the enantioselective synthesis of 2‐hydroxycyclohexanone. A PASS computational design strategy is proposed to enhance the thermostability of BsBDH. Moreover, ESM‐1v combined with ISM is utilized for enhancing and inverting its stereoselectivity.
