Characteristics and Application of a Novel Species of Bacillus: Bacillus velezensis

ACS Chemical Biology, 2018
Bacillus velezensis has been investigated and applied more and more widely recently because it can inhibit fungi and bacteria and become a potential biocontrol agent. In order to provide more clear and comprehensive understanding of B. velezensis for researchers, we collected the recent relevant articles systematically and reviewed the discovery and ...

Bacillus velezensis: phylogeny, useful applications, and avenues for exploitation

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2019
Some members of the Bacillus velezensis (Bv) group (e.g., Bv FZB42T and AS3.43) were previously assigned grouping with B. subtilis and B. amyloliquefaciens, based on the fact that they shared a 99% DNA-DNA percentage phylogenetic similarity. However, hinging on current assessments of the pan-genomic reassignments, the differing phylogenomic ...

Analysis of the Genomic Sequences and Metabolites of Bacillus velezensis YA215

Biochemical Genetics
Discovering more novel antimicrobial compounds has become a keen research problem. In this study, YA215 genome was sequenced by the Illumina HiSeq + PacBio sequencing platform. Genome assembly was performed by Unicycler software and the gene clusters responsible for secondary metabolite biosynthesis were predicted by antiSMASH.

Azoreductase and dye detoxification activities of Bacillus velezensis strain AB

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2008
Azo dyes are known to be a very important and widely used class of toxic and carcinogenic compounds. Although lot of research has been carried out for their removal from industrial effluents, very little attention is given to changes in their toxicity and mutagenicity during the treatment processes.

Simultaneous Production of MK-7 and Iturin A by Bacillus velezensis ND

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology
Bacillus velezensis can produce various secondary metabolites, such as the antibacterial compound iturin A and the coagulation-promoting menaquinone-7 (MK-7). To enhance the economic feasibility of the fermentation process, a co-production strategy, involving the simultaneous production of MK-7 and iturin A by Bacillus velezensis ND, was investigated ...
