Photon–Photon Interactions and the Opacity of the Universe in Gamma Rays

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
We discuss the topic of the transparency of the Universe in gamma rays due to extragalactic background light, and its cosmological and physical implications.

Adaptive Suppression Method of LiDAR Background Noise Based on Threshold Detection

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Background radiation in the LiDAR detection field of view is complex and variable, and the background noise generated can easily cause false alarms in the receiver, which affects the effective detection of the system.

Assessment of indoor and outdoor background radiation levels at school of technology, Kano State Polytechnic, Kano State-Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2019
A Survey taken by the world health organization (WHO) and the international commission on radiation protection (ICRP) shows that residents of temperate climate spends only about 20% of their time outdoor and about 80% indoors and certain materials use ...

Mała książka o wielkim wszechświecie

open access: yesZagadnienia Filozoficzne w Nauce, 2021
We live in extraordinary times for cosmologists. A vast amount of new astronomical data is pushing our model of the universe to its limits. An interest in cosmology is growing.

Radiation Exposure during Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy: Interlaminar versus Transforaminal

open access: yesBrazilian Neurosurgery, 2019
Objective Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) relies heavily on fluoroscopy guidance; therefore, medical staff exposure to radiation has become an important issue.

The Response of Living Organisms to Low Radiation Environment and Its Implications in Radiation Protection

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2020
Life has evolved on Earth for about 4 billion years in the presence of the natural background of ionizing radiation. It is extremely likely that it contributed, and still contributes, to shaping present form of life.

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING IN SIBERIA: APPROACHES TO CREATION OF DATABASE OF DANGEROUS WEATHER EVENTS [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2016
The method of subject adjustment of data of many years’ monitoring of meteorological and radiation values in urban environment was developed. Proposed method of subject adjustment of monitoring data serves to creation and updating of database of ionizing

The Extragalactic Neutrino Background Radiations From Blazars and Cosmic Rays [PDF]

open access: yesAstropart.Phys.4:343-350,1996, 1995
Blazar emission of gamma rays and cosmic ray production of gamma rays in gas-rich clusters have been proposed recently as alternative sources of the high energy extragalactic diffuse gamma ray background radiation. We show that these sources also produce a very different high energy extragalactic diffuse neutrino background radiation.

On the Ultraviolet Background Radiation of the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1985
Observations of the far-UV spectrum (1300–1800 å) of the sky background at different galactic latitudes are presented. The measurements were made in deep space, at distances up to 2 × 105 km from the Earth with the photoelectric spectrometer (“Galaktika”) on board the “Prognoz-6” satellite.
