A robust background subtraction method for changing background

In this paper we learn patterns of activity in open urban spaces and detect activity outliers that represent events of interest. We do so utilising background suppression to flag people as foreground blobs in videos from city surveillance cameras.

Real-Time Discriminative Background Subtraction

In particular, we formulate background subtraction as minimizing a penalized instantaneous risk functional--yielding a local online discriminative algorithm that can quickly adapt to temporal changes.
