Although electron backscatter has been a subject of investigation for many years, both theory and experimental data are sparse. This article examines the available data and shows that a large percentage of both the theoretical and experimental values fit an empirical relationship for a large range of electron energies.

Topological surface states protected from backscattering by chiral spin texture
Nature, 2009Topological insulators are a new class of insulators in which a bulk gap for electronic excitations is generated because of the strong spin–orbit coupling inherent to these systems.

Backscatter directivity and integrated backscatter power of arterial tissue
The International Journal of Cardiac Imaging, 1991A 27 MHz transducer, mounted on an ultrasonic microscope, was used to quantify the dependence of backscatter power on the angle of incidence of arterial vessels. Due to variations in the angle of incidence significant variations in backscatter power were found in the intima, the muscular and elastic media, the adventitia and the external elastic lamina.

Coherent backscattering spectroscopy
Optics Letters, 2004Coherent backscattering (CBS) of light in random media has been previously investigated by use of coherent light sources. Here we report a novel method of CBS measurement that combines low spatial coherence, broadband illumination, and spectrally resolved detection.

Optical analysis of nanoparticles via enhanced backscattering facilitated by 3-D photonic nanojets
We report the phenomenon of ultra-enhanced backscattering of visible light by nanoparticles facilitated by the 3-D photonic nanojet - a sub-diffraction light beam appearing at the shadow side of a plane-waveilluminated dielectric microsphere.

Backscatter signatures of knots
Optics Letters, 1995We examine the knottedness of a structure through optical or electromagnetic wave scattering as a first step in the investigation of scattering from and propagation through knotted media. Initial investigations demonstrate that the handedness of knots and the degree of knottedness can be deduced from the backscatter signature for the examples ...

On the analysis of backscatter traffic
39th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks Workshops, 2014This work offers in-depth analysis of three different darknet datasets captured in 2004, 2006 and 2008 to provide insights into the nature of backscatter traffic. Moreover, we analyzed these datasets using two well-known open source intrusion detection systems (IDSs), namely Snort and Bro.
