Optimal Filtering for the Backward Heat Equation [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to find an a priori initial bound for optimal filtering for backward heat equation. It is shown how this may be implemented computationally with error estimates. The feasibility of this work for practical computation is limited. No numerical experiment is performed.

Efficient Computation of Heat Distribution of Processed Materials under Laser Irradiation
In this paper, a solution is provided to solve the heat conduction equation in the three-dimensional cylinder region, where the laser intensity of the material irradiation surface is expressed as a Gaussian distribution.

A nonlinear Bismut-Elworthy formula for HJB equations with quadratic Hamiltonian in Banach spaces [PDF]
We consider a Backward Stochastic Differential Equation (BSDE for short) in a Markovian framework for the pair of processes $(Y,Z)$, with generator with quadratic growth with respect to $Z$.

Regularity for some backward heat equations [PDF]
We study boundary value problems for backward parabolic heat equations with the Cauchy condition at the initial time, i.e. at the 'wrong' end of the time interval. We found that existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions can still be achieved for the problem with boundary inputs.

Numerical implementation of BBM in FE package for solving unsaturated soil boundary value problems [PDF]
Unsaturated soil mechanics is of keen relevance when dealing with soil above the water table orcompacted soils. Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) is one of the most widely used constitutive models for describing unsaturated soil behaviour and is available as a

Unique Continuation for Stochastic Heat Equations [PDF]
We establish a unique continuation property for stochastic heat equations evolving in a bounded domain $G$. Our result shows that the value of the solution can be determined uniquely by means of its value on an arbitrary open subdomain of $G$ at any ...

Fully discrete finite element data assimilation method for the heat equation [PDF]
We consider a finite element discretization for the reconstruction of the final state of the heat equation, when the initial data is unknown, but additional data is given in a sub domain in the space time.

Inverse Estimates for Nonhomogeneous Backward Heat Problems
We investigate the inverse problem in the nonhomogeneous heat equation involving the recovery of the initial temperature from measurements of the final temperature. This problem is known as the backward heat problem and is severely ill-posed.
