Foodborne disease surveillance annual summary 1979 [PDF]
In 1979 there were 460 outbreaks (13,207 cases) of foodborne disease reported to the Centers for Disease Control. The etiology was confirmed in 37% of outbreaks.

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Foodborne disease surveillance annual summary 1981 [PDF]
In 1981 there were 568 outbreaks (14,432 cases) of foodborne disease reported to the Centers for Disease Control. The etiology was confirmed in 44% of the outbreaks. Bacterial pathogens accounted for 185 outbreaks (8,208 cases).

5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Foodborne disease surveillance annual summary 1980 [PDF]
In 1980 there were 612 outbreaks (13,791 cases) of foodborne disease reported to the Centers for Disease Control. In 36% of the outbreaks, the etiology was confirmed. Bacterial pathogens accounted for 136 outbreaks (6,891 cases).

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

The characterisation of polymicrobial bacterial communities in the lower respiratory tract of individuals with chronic pulmonary disease [PDF]
Microbial diversity encompasses the whole of the Earth’s biosphere and is incredibly vast. The microbial diversity of three disparate micro-environments using two culture-independent techniques (denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and 454 ...
