Drugs Resistance in Bacterial Diseases
2021The development of resistance in micro-organisms against the antimicrobial agents is known as drug resistance, and this causes morbidity and mortality in humans and animals. Major contributing factors for the development of drug resistance are the overuse of antibiotics, inaccurate implementation, extended hospitalization, and unintended prescriptions.

Bacterial Genotypic Drug Resistance Assays
2017The increasing emergence of antimicrobial multiresistance has significantly reduced the therapeutic options available for treating common bacterial infections. We are facing a serious worldwide health crisis but, paradoxically, this is also an exciting time since the rapid evolution of genomic technologies has facilitated the development of molecular ...

Molecular Genetics, Microbiology and Virology (Russian)
Genetic control of different pathways of drug-resistance formation in bacteria is presented. Possible molecular mechanisms of “new” genes integration into the genomes by horizontal gene transfer are discussed. This review may be valuable for physicians, veterinarians and scientific researches engaged in bacterial evolution.

Observations on the drug resistance of bacterial recombinants
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B - Biological Sciences, 1959Strains ofEscherichia coli ‘K-12’, sensitive or resistant to chloramphenicol, proflavine or brilliant green were crossed, and the drug resistance of the recombinant strains examined. For this purpose a quantitative scale of resistance was established, so that the spectrum of the distribution among the recombinants could be determined.

Drug repurposing against antibiotic resistant bacterial pathogens
European Journal of Medicinal ChemistryThe growing prevalence of MDR and XDR bacterial pathogens is posing a critical threat to global health. Traditional antibiotic development paths have encountered significant challenges and are drying up thus necessitating innovative approaches. Drug repurposing, which involves identifying new therapeutic applications for existing drugs, offers a ...

Bacterial Proteins Involved in Antimicrobial Drug Resistance
1989Antimicrobial drug resistance is a predictable response to the use of antibiotics. Among clinical isolates, this response most often involves the production of a drug-inactivating enzyme. Such enzymes have severely limited the clinical usefulness of many antimicrobial agents.
