The bottom‐up strategy based on multiomics data is used for the SynCom design, and it successfully inhibited F. nucleatum growth and achieved stable colonization in vivo. In addition, it promoted tryptophan metabolism and secondary bile acid conversion, reduced lipid accumulation, relieved microbiome disorder, decreased inflammatory reaction, and ...

Characterization of a Multidrug-Resistant, Novel Bacteroides Genomospecies
Metronidazole- and carbapenem-resistant Bacteroides fragilis are rare in the United States. We isolated a multidrug-resistant anaerobe from the bloodstream and intraabdominal abscesses of a patient who had traveled to India.

Superoxide dismutase in Bacteroides fragilis and related Bacteroides species [PDF]
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was demonstrated in cell-free extracts of Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides vulgatus, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, and Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron. The strains were grown under anaerobic conditions in Trypticase soy broth, and the specific activity of SOD in the extracts was, in most strains, higher ...

Bacteroides fragilis‐derived outer membrane vesicles deliver miR‐5119 and alleviate colitis by targeting PD‐L1 to inhibit GSDMD‐mediated neutrophil extracellular trap formation. Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) results from a breakdown in the symbiotic relationship between the intestinal commensal microflora and the mucosal immune system.

An intracellular structure in Bacteroides fragilis [PDF]
An unusual intracellular circular or oval structure was discovered during a morphological study of Bacteroides fragilis by electronmicroscopy. The structure is complex, composed of multiple concentric layers surrounding a central region. The dimensions and profile are consistent in all the sections observed.
