Megaprosthesis Infection by Bacteroides fragilis in a Patient With Ewing's Sarcoma: A Case Report and Literature Review [PDF]
Bacteroides fragilis, typically linked to intra‐abdominal infections, caused a rare prosthetic infection in a patient with Ewing's sarcoma. Treated with intravenous and oral antibiotics, the patient fully recovered.

Lincomycins in the Treatment of Bacteroides Infections [PDF]
Lincomycin, or the closely related derivative clindamycin, was used to treat six patients with bacteroides infection. In five of the six there was a rapid clinical response to the treatment. Lincomycin and clindamycin seem to be the antibiotics of choice for such infections.

Radioimmunoassay for Bacteroides fragilis infections [PDF]
Radioimmunoassay methods were evaluated for immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M antibodies against Bacteroides fragilis antigen. Of 12 serum samples from patients with B fragilis infections, 9 had higher concentrations of immunoglobulin G antibodies than any from 11 control subjects.

The ambivalent role of Bacteroides in enteric infections
Bacteroides spp. are increasingly used as model gut commensals in cocolonization studies with enteropathogens. The collective findings imply common themes of colonization resistance but also pathogen crossfeeding. We discuss how cutting-edge transcriptomics may help to disentangle the molecular basis of the divergent roles of Bacteroides in either ...

nim gene-independent metronidazole-resistant Bacteroides fragilis in surgical site infections
Background: is the most common anaerobic pathogen isolated from surgical site infections (SSIs). Metronidazole resistance is increasing and the mechanisms of resistance are not clear in some isolates.

Difficulties in the serodiagnosis of infection with the fragilis group of Bacteroides [PDF]
Bacteroides antibodies were studied in sera from 74 patients infected with the fragilis group of Bacteroides and 74 healthy control persons, by immunofluorescence of 26 different serotypes of the fragilis group. Antibodies were present at titres of 10-320 in 65 (88%) patients and 50 (68%) controls (p less than 0.01).
