Tensions Behind the Trade: How Divergent Service Preferences Shape Peer‐To‐Peer Sharing Choices

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The landscape of ‘sharing’ services encompasses services ranging from access‐based services (car sharing) to peer‐to‐peer sharing platforms (Couchsurfing). These services differ in the levels of exchange and altruism, creating conflicting consumer motivations.

‘What is the project?’: A fine‐grained study of some key challenges to interdisciplinary teaching and learning in the humanities

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
AbstractInterdisciplinary teaching and learning in the humanities (Humanities ITL) has gained prominence in recent decades. Yet to date, empirical research has largely emphasised its benefits and affordances, with far fewer studies examining the challenges it poses.

Are Eurasian badgers responsible for lamb predation? An investigation using farmer interviews, post‐mortem examination and molecular tools

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
This study investigates farmers' reports of lamb predation by badgers on Scottish sheep farms. Differentiating between predation and scavenging, and identifying the species responsible, is essential for livestock managers to effectively mitigate risk ...

Cytoflow: User‐Friendly Python Software for Computational Flow Cytometry

open access: yesCytometry Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Modern flow cytometry experiments routinely measure 18 or more fluorescent markers across many samples, patients, and tissues. As these experiments' complexity increases, manual gating becomes unacceptably inefficient and can introduce operator‐to‐operator variation. Computational cytometry algorithms such as unsupervised clustering, automated

Excretion of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci by Wild Mammals

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2002
A survey of fecal samples found enterococcal excretion in 82% of 388 bank voles (Clethrionomys glareolus), 92% of 131 woodmice (Apodemus sylvaticus), and 75% of 165 badgers (Meles meles). Vancomycin-resistant enterococci, all Enterococcus faecium of vanA

The Weight of the Number: Perceptions and Practices Surrounding Expected Body Weight Disclosure in Eating Disorder Treatment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Expected body weight (EBW) determination is common in eating disorder (ED) treatment, yet no evidence‐based guidelines exist for how to discuss EBWs with patients. Clinicians have previously conceptualized these discussions as therapeutic exposures targeting fear of weight gain.

The Association Between Parental Food Intake and Loss of Control Eating in Children: An Experimental Test Meal Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Loss of control (LOC) eating in children is prospectively associated with excessive weight gain and elevated psychopathology. Parental LOC eating and negative mood in children have been linked to child LOC eating; however, objective evidence on parent–child concordance in energy intake and sense of LOC over eating, particularly in ...

From patterns to predictions: a framework for the spatial epidemiology of wildlife diseases

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Wildlife diseases pose a significant threat to biodiversity conservation, public health, and livestock. Spatial epidemiology provides a robust framework to understand disease dynamics and guide policy and management. However, the rapid proliferation of spatial methods has largely occurred in isolation across disciplines, leaving the field without a ...

Transient Charging Dynamics in Stacked Ga2O3/ZnO Photovoltaic Units Governing Wavelength‐Selective Polarity Switching

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work reveals a “Photovoltaic‐Capacitance” coupling mechanism in stacked Ga2O3/ZnO devices, defining the ZnO/graphene interface as a novel Photovoltaic Dynamic‐Capacitor (PDC). The wavelength‐selective bipolar response enables a physical layer secure communication protocol based on ternary optical logic (“1,” “0,” “−1”).

Engineering mRNA‐LNP Medicines for the Ageing Brain: Opportunities and Challenges for Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering messenger RNA (mRNA)‐lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to cross the ageing blood–brain barrier and target neurodegenerative diseases. It outlines design principles, delivery routes, and translational challenges, charting a roadmap towards clinical application of mRNA‐LNP therapeutics for neurodegenerative ...
