Effect of ferrite phase fraction on bainite transformation plasticity in double transformation
Transformation plasticity significantly affects the stress distribution of a forging after heat-treatment. In this study, the transformation plasticity in a multi-phase transformation was measured experimentally.

Exploiting Residual Elements Arising from Scrap Steel in Future Sustainable Steel Alloy Design
Herein, the effects of residual elements Cu and Sn on grain growth, recrystallization, and phase transformation in C–Mn steel are summarized, and a case study is presented on how the presence of residual elements can be exploited to reduce deliberate Nb microalloying while achieving the same grain size control and strength during thermomechanical ...

The effect of chemical inhomogeneity on the microstructure and properties of nanobainitic steel is investigated. A two‐stage isothermal heat treatment that produced a more uniform microstructure is designed. The first‐stage temperature is higher than the MS of depleted bands; conversely, the second‐stage temperature is lower than the first‐stage ...

Classification of Bainitic Structures Using Textural Parameters and Machine Learning Techniques
Bainite is an essential constituent of modern high strength steels. In addition to the still great challenge of characterization, the classification of bainite poses difficulties.

Phase Transformation Behavior of Continuously Cooled Fe–C–V–(Mo) Alloys
Additions of vanadium and molybdenum microalloying are shown to reshape phase transformations in clean low‐carbon steels. By tracking microstructural shifts during continuous cooling, the work uncovers the correlation between transformation kinetics, ferrite morphology, and hardness.

Advanced Ultrahigh Strength Bainitic Steels [PDF]
The addition of about 2 wt.% of silicon to steel enables the production of a distinctive microstructure consisting of a mixture of bainitic ferrite, carbon-enriched retained austenite, and some martensite. With careful design, impressive combinations of strength and toughness have been reported for high-silicon bainitic steels.

The present study investigates the deformation behavior of high‐strength steels and the associated evolution of material anisotropy. Particular focus is placed on the impact of crystallographic texture and intergranular strains on how residual stresses can be evaluated using X‐ray diffraction and the associated assessment of weld seams in the ...
