Bainitic Ferrite Plate Thickness Evolution in Two Nanostructured Steels. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel), 2021
Bainitic ferrite plate thickness evolution during isothermal transformation was followed at the same holding temperatures in two nanostructured steels containing (in wt.%) 1C-2Si and 0.4C-3Si. A dynamic picture of how the bainitic transformation evolves was obtained from the characterization of the microstructure present at room temperature after full ...

Further evidence of tetragonality in bainitic ferrite [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science and Technology, 2015
There is growing evidence that bainitic ferrite which retains a substantial amount of carbon in solid solution does not have cubic symmetry. We provide additional data on a different nanostructured bainitic steel to support this evidence, based on synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments.

Effect of Austempering Time on the Microstructure and Carbon Partitioning of Ultrahigh Strength Steel 56NiCrMoV7 [PDF]

open access: yesMetals, 2017
Ultrahigh strength steel 56NiCrMoV7 was austempered at 270 °C for different durations in order to investigate the microstructure evolution, carbon partitioning behaviour and hardness property.

Design concept and phase transformation study of advanced bainitic-austenitic medium-Mn steel [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
The isothermal heat treatment processing routes are designed for a novel 0.17 C-3.1Mn-1Si-0.55Al-0.22Mo-0.034Ti-0.073 V steel, aiming to obtain a homogeneous fine lath-type microstructure consisting of bainitic ferrite and retained austenite (RA).

Effect of Bainite to Ferrite Yield Strength Ratio on the Deformability of Mesostructures for Ferrite/Bainite Dual-Phase Steels [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
The strength and plasticity balance of F/B dual-phase X80 pipeline steels strongly depends on deformation compatibility between the soft phase of ferrite and the hard phase of bainite; thus, the tensile strength of ferrite and bainite, as non-negligible factors affecting the deformation compatibility, should be considered first.

Three-Dimensional Observation of Upper Bainite in the Initial Stage of Transformation in 0.4 wt%C TRIP Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Three-dimensional microstructures of bainitic ferrites and prior austenite grains (PAGs) were observed in the initial stage of upper bainite transformation by using a serial sectioning technique and orientation analysis by electron back scattering ...

Enhanced Strength and Ductility by Introducing Nanobainitic Ferrite in Bainitic Steel Used in Sports Equipment

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The mechanical properties of carbide-free bainitic steels used in sports equipment were investigated. The nanobainitic ferrite was introduced in bainitic steel to enhance the stability of blocky retained austenite (RA).

Partial austenitisation and TBF steel composed of ferrite, bainitic ferrite, and austenite

open access: yesMaterials Science and Technology, 2023
A TRIP-aided bainitic-ferritic (TBF) steel with a chemical composition of Fe–0.19C–1.7Mn–1.09Si–0.51Al–0.05Nb (wt-%) was partially austenitised from a hot-rolled martensitic initial microstructure. After the hot rolling, the martensitic specimens were reheated to different intercritical temperatures and then austempered at 350°C.

Effect of ausforming on the bainitic transformation and microstructure in medium carbon V–N micro-alloyed steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Ausforming at 900 °C with 30% reduction in V and N micro-alloyed steel could induce VN precipitation, which has low lattice misfit (1.8%) with bainitic ferrite in a particular crystal orientation.

Microstructural evolution during tempering of an ausformed carbide-free low temperature bainitic steel

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
The influence of tempering at 400 and 500 °C on two bainitic ferrite microstructures obtained via pure isothermal transformation and ausforming followed by the isothermal transformation was studied in a medium C-Si rich bainitic steel.
