An algorithm as a diagnostic tool for central ocular motor disorders, also to diagnose rare disorders

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, 2019
Background Recently an increasing number of digital tools to aid clinical work have been published. This study’s aim was to create an algorithm which can assist physicians as a “digital expert” with the differential diagnosis of central ocular motor ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

The Quest for Balance [PDF]

open access: yesCell Host & Microbe, 2015
Ancient healing traditions, particularly in the East, approach the human body holistically. We often hear about the balance between mind, body, and spirit. To modern-day scientists and clinicians embedded in empirical principles, the concepts of traditional Eastern medicine may seem unfounded, nebulous, or even false.

Characterizing sensor accuracy requirements in an artificial intelligence-enabled medical device

open access: yesIPEM-Translation, 2022
Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications are increasingly prevalent in the healthcare industry. In some cases, medical devices use sensor-collected data to feed into algorithms which generate scores or risk assessments that are used to ...
