The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

The authors argue that the center of gravity has a preponderating influence on the longitudinal stability of an airplane in flight, but that manufacturers, although aware of this influence, are still content to apply empirical rules to the balancing of ...

Balance Functions, Correlations, Charge Fluctuations and Interferometry [PDF]
Connections between charge balance functions, charge fluctuations and correlations are presented. It is shown that charge fluctuations can be directly expressed in terms of a balance functions under certain assumptions.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Confronting the United Nations’ Pro-growth Agenda
In this article, we enjoin the United Nations (UN) to forge a path out of our plight of multiple environmental and social crises. With other analysts, we identify ‘overshoot’ – the state in which humanity has substantially outpaced Earth’s capacity to ...

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Principal balances are defined as a sequence of orthonormal balances which maximize successively the explained variance in a data set. Apparently, computing principal balances requires an exhaustive search along all possible sets of orthogonal balances. This is unaffordable for even a small number of parts.
