Comparative Study on the Balance Ability in Sporty and Unsporty Children

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2014
AbstractBody balance is defined as the capacity that allows you to be aware and control your body posture in the air in order to maintain orthostatic position in statics and dynamics. Posture reflects general body balance, therefore it can be used as a balance assessment instrument.

The anticancer effect of the HDAC inhibitor belinostat is enhanced by inhibitors of Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The pan‐HDAC inhibitor belinostat increases the expression of the pro‐apoptotic proteins Bim, Puma, and Noxa and induces apoptosis in ovarian cancer cell lines and patient‐derived tumor organoids when used at high concentrations. Moreover, inhibiting the anti‐apoptotic proteins Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 sensitizes these preclinical models to the cytotoxic effect

Effect of Static Balance Ability on Dual-Task Costs Under Different Walking TaskInterventions in Chinese Older Adults

open access: yesXiehe Yixue Zazhi
ObjectiveTo compare gait parameters during single-task and dual-task walking in older adults, and to examine differences in dual-task costs between individuals with high versus low balance abilities under different task conditions.MethodsFrom November to

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Loss of primary cilia promotes EphA2‐mediated endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in the ovarian tumor microenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of primary cilia in endothelial cells promotes EndMT and vascular abnormalities in the ovarian tumor microenvironment through EphA2 activation. Using human samples, in vitro models, and endothelial‐specific Kif3a‐knockout mice, we show that primary cilia loss drives the acquisition of cancer‐associated fibroblast‐like phenotypes, thereby ...

Effects of finger acupressure combined with lower limb rehabilitation training machine on stroke recovery

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundStroke is a common acute cerebrovascular disease, and rehabilitation therapy plays a crucial role in the recovery of stroke patients.MethodsIn this retrospective study, we first enrolled 80 stroke patients. These participants were then randomly

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

Aging Effects on the Structure Underlying Balance Abilities Tests

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Physical Therapy Association, 2010
Balance impairment is one of the biggest risk factors for falls reducing inactivity, resulting in nursing care. Therefore, balance ability is crucial to maintain the activities of independent daily living of older adults. Many tests to assess balance ability have been developed.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...
