Empirical Model Reduction of Controlled Nonlinear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper we introduce a new method of model reduction for nonlinear systems with inputs and outputs. The method requires only standard matrix computations, and when applied to linear systems results in the usual balanced truncation. For nonlinear

Balanced Truncation of Linear Time-Varying Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2004
In this paper, balanced truncation of linear time-varying systems is studied in discrete and continuous time. Based on relatively basic calculations with time-varying Lyapunov equations/inequalities we are able to derive both upper and lower error bounds for the truncated models. These results generalize well-known time-invariant formulas.

Balanced truncation of perturbative representations of nonlinear systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The paper presents a novel approach for a balanced truncation style of model reduction of a perturbative representation of a nonlinear system. Empirical controllability and observability gramians for nonlinear systems are employed to define a projection ...

Projection-free approximate balanced truncation of large unstable systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this article, we show that the projection-free, snapshot-based, balanced truncation method can be applied directly to unstable systems. We prove that even for unstable systems, the unmodified balanced proper orthogonal decomposition algorithm ...

Development of an Improved Frequency Limited Model Order Reduction Technique and Error Bound for Discrete-Time Systems [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2021
Frequency limited model order reduction algorithm presented by Wang and Zilouchian for discrete-time systems provide unstable reduced-order models and also do not provide a priori error bound formula.

Reduced-dimensionality nonlinear distributed-parameter observer for fuel cell systems

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
To ensure reliable and efficient operation of fuel cell systems, it is important to monitor them online. However, placing sensors inside the fuel cell is often challenging, so virtual sensing using an efficient state observer is used in this study ...

Balancing and model reduction for discrete-time nonlinear systems based on Hankel singular value analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper is concerned with balanced realization and model reduction for discrete-time nonlinear systems. Singular perturbation type balanced truncation method is proposed.

Recurrent selection of popcorn composites UEMCO1 and UEM-CO2 based on selection indices [PDF]

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2017
Selection indices were applied to data sets of 169 half-sib families of the popcorn composites UEM-Co1 and UEM-Co2 in four cycles of recurrent selection.
