Automatic Balancer : Pendulum Balancer
This paper is concerned with theoretical and experimental investigations on the dynamic behavior and the stability of an automatic balancer using centrifugal pendulums. It is found that the unbalance of the rotor can be completely corrected only if the pivots of the pendulums are on the center of the shaft.

A 0,±1 matrix is balanced if, in every submatrix with two nonzero entries per row and column, the sum of the entries is a multiple of 4. This definition was introduced by Truemper and generalizes the notion of balanced 0,1 matrix introduced by Berge.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Development of a tuneable test problem generator for assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing [PDF]
Assembly optimisation activities that involve assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing have been extensively studied because of the importance of optimal assembly efficiency to manufacturing competitiveness.

ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Biologically inspired genetic algorithm to minimize idle time of the assembly line balancing [PDF]
Assembly line balancing (ALB) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem in production and operations management area. Due to the NP-hard nature of the ALB problem, many attempts have been made to solve the problem efficiently.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Recent and Ancient Signature of Balancing Selection around the S-Locus in Arabidopsis halleri and A. lyrata [PDF]
Balancing selection can maintain different alleles over long evolutionary times. Beyond this direct effect on the molecular targets of selection, balancing selection is also expected to increase neutral polymorphism in linked genome regions, in inverse ...
