Some Identities and Generating Functions for Bidimensional Balancing and Cobalancing Sequences

open access: yesUniversal Journal of Mathematics and Applications
This article studies the bidimensional versions of four number sequences: balancing, Lucas-balancing, Lucas-cobalancing and cobalancing. Some of the identities and generating functions were presented.

Analysis and implementation of impedance source based Switched Capacitor Multi-Level Inverter

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2018
In recent years, a numerous Multi-Level Inverter (MLI) topologies are proposed with reduced number of switches and control complexity. An Impedance source based MLI structure with ability of additional boost is proposed in this work.

Battery management system enhancement for lithium-ions battery cells using switched shunt resistor approach based on finite state machine control algorithm

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
Due to their favorable characteristics, lithium-ion batteries have a dominant share of the battery market. There are a number of issues related to the use and management of Lithium-ion batteries in this paper, specifically with regard to the safe ...

Piercing Numbers for Balanced and Unbalanced Families [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2010
Given a finite family \(\mathcal{F}\) of convex sets in \(\mathbb{R}^d\), the piercing number of \(\mathcal{F}\) is the minimum number \(m\) such that there is a set of \(m\) points that intersects every nonempty set of \(\mathcal{F}\). The authors say that \(\mathcal{F}\) has the \((p,q)_r\) property if, for any \(p\) convex sets in \(\mathcal{F ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Repdigits as Products of Consecutive Balancing or Lucas-Balancing Numbers

open access: yesThe Fibonacci Quarterly, 2018
Repdigits are natural numbers formed by the repetition of a single digit. In this paper, we explore the presence of repdigits in the product of consecutive balancing or Lucas-balancing numbers.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Dynamic Demand-Capacity Balancing for Air Traffic Management Using Constraint-Based Local Search: First Results [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2009
Using constraint-based local search, we effectively model and efficiently solve the problem of balancing the traffic demands on portions of the European airspace while ensuring that their capacity constraints are satisfied.
