Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Modeling and solving the parallel mixed-flow remanufacturing disassembly line balancing problem for multi-variety products

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The types and numbers of components in end-of-life (EOL) products are often uncertain during remanufacturing, leading to low disassembly efficiencies for traditional remanufacturing disassembly lines.

Smote vs. Random Undersampling for Imbalanced Data - Car Ownership Demand Model

open access: yesCommunications, 2022
Because the numbers of cars reflect each person's travel behaviors for each specific location, the car ownership demand model plays a dominant role in analysis of the travel demand in order to understand each area's individual and household travel ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Piercing Numbers for Balanced and Unbalanced Families [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2010
Given a finite family \(\mathcal{F}\) of convex sets in \(\mathbb{R}^d\), the piercing number of \(\mathcal{F}\) is the minimum number \(m\) such that there is a set of \(m\) points that intersects every nonempty set of \(\mathcal{F}\). The authors say that \(\mathcal{F}\) has the \((p,q)_r\) property if, for any \(p\) convex sets in \(\mathcal{F ...

Bidimensional Extensions of Cobalancing and Lucas-Cobalancing Numbers

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae Silesianae
A new bidimensional version of cobalancing numbers and Lucas-balancing numbers are introduced. Some properties and identities satisfied by these new bidimensional sequences are studied.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Repdigits as Products of Consecutive Balancing or Lucas-Balancing Numbers

open access: yesThe Fibonacci Quarterly, 2018
Repdigits are natural numbers formed by the repetition of a single digit. In this paper, we explore the presence of repdigits in the product of consecutive balancing or Lucas-balancing numbers.

On the Balancing-bilinear system of difference equations: solutions via some number sequences and global stability

open access: yesMiskolc Mathematical Notes
In the current paper, we present a new class of systems called the Balancing-bilinear system of difference equations to investigate some theoretical proprieties.
