Picasso did it with legs and eyes; the Washington Post does it with bra ads and stories about human-rights abuses; and the Balkan Peninsula did it with cultural iconography and people--people now at war once shared villages, markets, even houses.

The Mediterranean is characterized with a large number of local winds. One region in the Mediterranean—the Balkan Peninsula or simply the Balkans—is particularly rich with local winds of different types including downslope and upslope winds, gap flows, and thermally induced breezes from land to sea and vice versa.
