Reasons for the fatigue of ball attachments and their O-rings: A systematic review

open access: yesDental and Medical Problems, 2023
The ball attachments and their O-rings used for the retention and stabilization of overdentures showed a decrease in retention as the number of cycles increased. This fact resulted in a decrease in the retention of the prosthesis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fatigue resistance of ball attachments through a systematic review.

3D Finite Element Study on Incomplete Osseointegration: Locator Attachment versus Ball Attachment

open access: yesOpen Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2021
BACKGROUND: Incomplete implant osseointegration may affect the choice of the type of attachment to ensure less amount of bone resorption, periods of maintenance, and longer implant/attachment life-time. AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate, using 3D FE analysis (FEA), the influence of two different types of attachments on the rate of bone ...

Masticatory Ability for a Single Implant Mandibular Overdenture Retained by Two Different Attachments: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dentistry, 2021
Objective. The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to compare the masticatory ability subjectively between ball and Cendres+Métaux Locator (CM-LOC) attachment for a single implant retained mandibular overdenture throughout a 24-month follow-up ...

Comparison of changes in retentive force and wear pattern of two stud attachments for implant overdentures: An in vitro study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Sciences, 2019
Context: Edentulous patients often complain about the instability of mandibular denture. To overcome that, implant-supported overdentures (IODs) have been applied as a good prosthetic option.

Tooth-supported attachment retained overdenture: forgotten concept revisited - A case report

open access: yesSRM Journal of Research in Dental Sciences, 2021
Overdentures have been considered as a viable treatment alternative for complete dentures in preserving the alveolar ridge integrity. Overdentures remain the choice of the treatment for edentulous patients because of its associated advantages such as ...
