Field survey and evaluation method for fouled ballast using transmitted sound characteristics
As railway ballast crushing and refining progress with time, and the content of fine grains increases, the saturation of ballast increases during rainfall. The decrease in drainage and strength increase the likelihood for ballast to settle.

Development of Condition Assessment Index of Ballast Track Using Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR)
The condition of the ballast is a critical factor affecting the riding quality and the performance of a track. Fouled ballast can accelerate track irregularities, which results in frequent ballast maintenance requirements.

Abstract Background Gastrolith ingestion is a known inherent behaviour in crocodiles. However, the interpretation of coelomic radiographs in crocodilians is challenging due to the limited informative literature in this field. Methods Dorsoventral coelomic radiographs of 49 juvenile saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) were acquired twice, with an ...

This study investigates the potential adaptive advantages of female‐specific UV‐induced fluorescence in male mate‐choice and predation risk, as fitness costs, using two species of ornate jumping spiders Phintella vittata and Ph. bifurcilinea. Our findings provide empirical evidence of a trade‐off: While fluorescence enhances male mate preference, it ...
