Treatment of Ballast Water on Board Ships
2015The global transport of ballast water in ocean-going ships contributes substantially to the spread of aquatic invasive species, with serious consequences to local ecosystems. Therefore, the treatment of ballast water prior to discharge will soon become mandatory. Within the last decade, several dozen ballast water treatment systems have been developed.

BALLAST WATER HEAT TREATMENT OPTIONS AND POSSIBILITIES
2002Heat has been proved to be a very attractive method of minimizing the risk of introducing exotic marine organisms into the ports where ballast is discharged. It does not necessitate the use of chemicals or biocides that could be harmful to the environment.

Heating Methods of Water Ballast Treatment on- Board
2008Alohtonus organisms relased into sea with water ballast exert a harmful influence onto biodiversity, shore industry, and human health. This paper describes the possibilities for aplication of heating methods in water ballast treatment. Proposals for heating treatment and continuous washing of tanks, heating treatment with recirculation and heating ...
