Corticospinal, reticulospinal and motoneuronal contributions to fatigability during a sustained contraction of the elbow flexors

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Synaptic input to the motoneuron pool is altered during fatiguing muscle contractions. In humans, the corticospinal tract is often studied, with equivocal findings regarding its role in the reduction of force. To date, the involvement of the reticulospinal tract during states of fatigue has not been explored.

Ballistic limits and failure patterns of TiAl alloy plates in particle impact

open access: yesMaterials & Design
TiAl alloys have been gradually adopted for low-pressure turbine blades in aircraft engines due to their heat resistance and low density. However, TiAl alloys, which are quasi-brittle materials, may be severely damaged by impact with debris generated ...

Correlated amplitudes of potentials evoked in homologous muscles by magnetic stimulation reveal positive covariation of corticospinal output

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure There is positive covariation in the amplitudes of motor evoked potentials (MEPs) generated by (near simultaneous) stimulation of the two motor cortices. That is, larger responses to stimulation of the left motor cortex tend to be accompanied by larger responses to stimulation of the right motor cortex, and smaller responses to ...

Distinct developmental dynamics of opposing persistent currents shape motoneuron firing during motor maturation of zebrafish

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend During the first few days of development, zebrafish acquire the ability to produce increasingly refined movements that rely progressively less on the activity of primary motoneurons. At the same time, primary motoneurons undergo functional maturation, becoming increasingly capable of repetitive firing.

US‐Japan Alliance: Emmeshing Bilateralism Into Broader Multilateralism

open access: yesAsia &the Pacific Policy Studies, Volume 13, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the 21st Century, geopolitical confrontation between the Eurasian continental powers and the sea powers works to divide Asia. The US‐Japan alliance has transformed itself from Japanʼs asymmetrical security dependence of the Cold War period into a mutual and more integrated partnership today.

Validation of Intravoxel Incoherent Motion MRI Using Perfused Explanted Human Livers

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2291-2304, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Evaluate the feasibility of using perfused explanted human livers for validating intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM). Methods Eight (n = 8) explanted livers from deceased donors were obtained. The portal vein and hepatic artery of each explanted liver were connected to a perfusion system.

The Effect of Voxel Volume and Voxel Shape on Cardiac Diffusion Tensor Imaging Metrics

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2063-2077, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cardiac diffusion tensor imaging (cDTI) is signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR)‐limited due to diffusion signal attenuation, long echo times from gradient moment nulling, and moderate myocardial T 2$$ {}_2 $$. Increasing voxel volume improves SNR but reduces spatial sensitivity and introduces physiological bias.
