Ballistic Impacts on Bone: Effect of Preloading [PDF]
An experiment to investigate the effect of preloading on bone impacts by projectiles was undertaken. During this experiment, a total of 59 bones were impacted. Red deer tibias were used, with impacts to the shaft under three different loading conditions. The purpose of the trial was to provide an indication on whether preloading a bone has an effect on

Our work achieves an efficiency breakthrough in MWCNTs/Si solar cells by screening high‐quality pristine MWCNTs without any separation or purification processes. This breakthrough is mainly attributed to the excellent dispersibility of Nafion and the excellent hole transport property of MWCNTs:Nafion film containing charge transfer doping, passivation,

Ballistic Tests of Alumina-UHMWPE Composites Submitted to Gamma Radiation [PDF]
The energy absorption in ballistic tests of alumina-ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites with 60, 80 and 90 wt% alumina submitted to gamma radiation doses of 25, 50 and 75 kGy was investigated. The ballistic tests were carried out

Hot‐carrier transport in metal halide perovskites is investigated using spatiotemporally‐resolved photoluminescence microscopy. Mesa‐shaped MAPbBr3 microdisks exhibit anomalous super‐diffusive carrier propagation on nanosecond timescales, driven by hot‐carrier stabilization and strong carrier–phonon coupling.

Bioinspired composite segmented armour: Numerical simulations
Nature has evolved ingenious armour designs, like the flexible carapaces of armadillo and boxfish consisting of hexagonal segments connected by collagen fibres, that serve as bioinspiration for modern ballistic armours.

Cation Diffusion‐Mediated Displaced Reaction‐Transformation in Green Steelmaking
The removal of O lattice atoms by environmental H2 at the surface of Fe3O4 results in Fe enrichment, driving the inward diffusion of Fe cations into the bulk. Through hopping between unoccupied and initially occupied sites, cation diffusion triggers a spatially displaced reaction‐transformation and drives subsequent dynamic phase transformations and ...

COMPUTATIONAL BALLISTIC IMPACT ANALYSIS OF AIRCRAFT ARMORS
Lightweight and ballistic resistance are significant parameters in the design of aircraft armors. Aircraft should not compromise the payload or its maneuverability due to the armors added to the system.
